Under the Hood Artists

A troop of artists from Buffalo NY, specializing in comic book art, sequential art, fine art commissions, sculpture and cos-play items. Under the Hood can be found at local art shows and comicon events.

John Kindelan has been a part of the Buffalo art scene for the past 20 years at various comic cons, gallery shows and vendor events. Trained early on by his grandfather, and influenced heavily by those in the comic industry like Jim Lee, and Paco Medina as well as classical art influences of the Italian Renaissance focusing on anatomy and form. His love for pop culture has been seen in his art, online writng and has taken his work in Under The Hood to a different level these past few years. His entire family are pop culture geeks and you can often find his kids at the comic cons with him either helping Dad sell his stuff or selling stuff of their own. While most of his art is line drawing and prints, he also is known for his Coffee Paintings, where all he paints with is various shades of coffee. Each member of the Under the Hood artist group brings something different to the table, an ever increasing portfolio of drawings, paintings, and sculptures can always be found when you visit them at any show.

Hailing from West Seneca NY, Tyler Wrobel is the painter of the Under the Hood Artist group. An artist that is comfortable and enjoys using oil and acrylic paint on canvas and going for larger pieces and prints. Recently he’s discovered the Copic markers and is having some great success with them as well. Tyler is a big gamer and it often comes through in his art. Doing gamer art for fun and even being commissioned to advise on some professional projects Tyler has taken 8 bit to the… next level. He’s a fan of Science Fiction, Marvel, Image and Dark Horse comics and one of his favorite works is Jim Starlin’s Infinity Gauntlet. Each member of the Under the Hood artist group brings something different to the table, an ever increasing portfolio of drawings, paintings, and sculptures can always be found when you visit them at any show.

Chris Conti is a Western New York aspiring comic book artist has recently expanded and become an impressive portrait artist with the Under the Hood Artists group. His talents include working with pencils, pen and ink, and copic markers. Chris made his first comicon appearance at Comicon in 2014 and has appeared at several more shows with Under the Hood His influences are comic greats like Bill Waterson, Marc Silvestri, Jim Lee, Bruce Timm, and Grant Morrison. Continually working on his own comic art projects he hopes to release an online book of his own soon.
